A 44 Magnum is a short to medium range double action Revolver which can be found throughout the world. This weapon is very rare and can be crafted with the correct Gun Parts. Unlike any of the other firearms, currently, none of the gun parts can be crafted or forged and ultimately this weapon can be obtained only through looting. This weapon requires the 44 Magnum Bullet and will hold six cartridges, at full durability it lasts for 350 shots. It reloads automatically if the player is carrying the correct Ammunition, it can be done manually by using the reload key [R](by default).
During combat, a 44 Magnum is a very powerful Weapon, it will make light work of the toughest Zombies. At close to medium range it will kill almost all zombies with a single headshot and most other zombies with a single body shot (on default difficulty). The downside to the 44 Magnum is that it has a large amount of recoil, making aiming down the sight while firing quite difficult. It is also very loud and will easily attract Zombies. Another disadvantage is that the gun only holds 6 bullets at once, which means it will need frequent reloading. It is therefore suggested that the 44 Magnum is used with care.
To craft a 44 Magnum the player will need the following Gun Parts:
The required items are placed into the crafting grid in the positions as shown below.

The condition of a 44 Magnum deteriorates with each use until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Weapon Repair Kit.
- One Weapon Repair Kit will restore 40 durability.
- With a durability of 350, nine Weapon Repair Kits will be required to restore a fully depleted 44 Magnum.
The example shown below is merely to illustrate the items needed as currently they can be placed into the crafting grid in any position.

A 44 Magnum can be dismantled by placing it into the output slot of the crafting grid. This will break the weapon down into its component state, and display the parts in the main crafting grid. The player can then remove the parts and place them into their bag or tool belt.
Players who have read the appropriate Recipe Book can also use this method to upgrade gun parts in the weapon to a higher quality. To do so, remove the desired gun part from the crafting grid, and replace it with a similar gun part of higher quality. Note that this action must be done in a specific order. You cannot first drag the NEW gun part onto the crafting grid and "swap" it with the OLD one. You must first drag the OLD gun part off of the crafting grid and replace or swap it with the NEW one.
Any player can place the weapon in the output slot, observe the weapon's component gun parts, and remove it from the output slot again without dismantling it. This action will also automatically unload the bullets into their bag or tool belt.
However, although any player can dismantle a weapon, only players who have read the appropriate Recipe Book can reassemble or upgrade it. Players without this knowledge should never remove any gun parts from the crafting grid, unless they intend to permanently dismantle the weapon.
The player can place a 44 Magnum into a Forge and it will be melted down into iron. Each one will produce 5.0 lb
A 44 Magnum can be scrapped by placing it into the crafting grid to craft Scrap Iron.

- It is possible to fire a 44 Magnum quickly enough to make the second shot fire as the gun recoils from the first shot, the second bullet will be shot up into the air.
- The model used in the game closely resembles the Smith & Wesson Model 29 as made famous by actor Clint Eastwood in the 1971 movie Dirty Harry.
