The Pistol requires 9mm Bullets and will hold 15 cartridges. It reloads automatically, if the correct Ammunition is available. It can also be reloaded manually at any time using the reload key (default key R).
The Pistol is very effective when used to shoot zombies in the head, which is easiest accomplished at short range. It takes one shot to the head to kill a normal Zombie and two shots to kill a bloated Zombie. It takes several shots to the body or limbs.
The following Recipe Book must be read in order to craft a Pistol:
The following Gun Parts are required to craft a Pistol:
The required items are placed into the crafting grid in the positions as shown below.
A Pistol can be dismantled by placing it into the output slot of the crafting grid. This will break the weapon down into its component state, displaying the parts in the main crafting grid. The player can then remove the parts and place them into their bag or tool belt.
Players who have read the appropriate Recipe Book can also use this method to upgrade gun parts in the weapon to a higher quality. To do so requires the player to remove the desired gun part from the crafting grid, then replace it with the higher quality part. Keep the following in mind when replacing weapon parts:
- The OLD part must be moved off of the crafting grid before replacing it with the NEW one.
- The NEW part cannot be placed onto the crafting grid in order to SWAP it with the OLD one.
Any weapon can be placed in the output slot to observe its component gun parts. The weapon can then be removed from the output slot without dismantling it. This action will automatically unload bullets into the inventory bag or tool belt, assuming there is space. Otherwise, the bullets will fall to the ground (disappearing after 60 seconds).
A special note must be made for players that dismantle a pistol (or any other firearm) without having read the appropriate Recipe Book. Although any player can dismantle a weapon, only players who have read the appropriate Recipe Book can reassemble or upgrade it. Players without this knowledge should never remove any gun parts from the crafting grid, unless they intend to permanently dismantle the weapon. If you replace a part in the crafting grid and attempt to reassemble by clicking the Craft button, without the Recipe Book knowledge to craft it, all the items will be turned into Scrap Iron.
The condition of a Pistol deteriorates with each use until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Weapon Repair Kit.
- One Weapon Repair Kit will restore 40 durability.
The example shown below is merely to illustrate the items needed as currently they can be placed into the crafting grid in any position.

The player can place a Pistol into a Forge and it will be melted down into iron. Each Pistol will produce 2.1 lbs of iron.
A Pistol can be scrapped by placing it into the center of the crafting grid to craft Scrap Iron.
